My post content"What light must a sailboat under power display at night?" is a white masthead light.

When a sailboat is under power at night, it is considered a power-driven vessel, and as such, it should exhibit the lights required for a power-driven vessel according to the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs). One of these required lights is a white masthead light, which should be visible from 225 degrees around the front of the boat to 22.5 degrees abaft the beam on either side.

Additionally, the sailboat should also display a red light on the port side and a green light on the starboard side. These are sidelights, and they should be visible from right ahead to 112.5 degrees aft on their respective sides.

Remember, proper navigation lights are essential for safe boating at night and help other vessels determine the type, size, and direction of your boat, reducing the risk of collisions. Always familiarize yourself with the regulations and requirements for navigation lights depending on your vessel's type and activity.
