Marine Electrical Connectors
Shiptech offers a full selection of marine electrical connectors, including butt connectors, marine wire connectors, marine grade lugs and ring terminals, and heat shrink disconnectors. It is important to use high-quality electrical connectors that are specifically designed for marine environments, as saltwater exposure can cause corrosion and damage to electrical systems.
The use of adhesive-lined heat shrink in the marine wire connectors is especially helpful in creating a watertight seal and strain relief, which can help prolong the lifespan of the connectors. Additionally, the use of heavy-duty annealed tinned copper in marine grade lugs, ring terminals, and heat shrink can also help to prevent corrosion and ensure maximum current flow.
Investing in high-quality marine electrical connectors is crucial for the safety and longevity of your boat's electrical system. Browse through Shiptech selection to find the right connectors for your needs.
CrimpTerminals, adhere to the following steps.
Select the appropriate size ring terminal that corresponds to the wire gauge you are using.
Remove the insulation from the end of the wire and trim it to the same length as the terminal.
Place the wire into the terminal barrel, ensuring that no exposed wire is visible.
The crimp terminal is ready to be crimped onto the wire end. You can utilize either pliers or a ratchet crimping tool for this process; however, using a ratchet crimping tool will provide a superior quality crimp. This is because the handles stay locked until a complete crimp cycle finishes, avoiding partial crimps.
Insert the barrel of the ring terminal into the designated crimping section of the tool, which should be marked with sizes.
Press the tool handles together until the ratchet disengages.
After crimping, the ring terminal can be mounted onto the stud or post and fastened with a nut or soldered in place.
By following these instructions, you can confidently crimp a ring terminal, ensuring that your electrical connections are robust and dependable.
